A refresh for the Craigslist brand.

A New Logo and Logotype

The original logo for Craigslist uses Times New Roman, an oldie but a goodie. I’ve updated the logotype font to Caraque Medium Melted, a relaxed, san serif font that promotes feelings of ease and comfort. I removed the dot above the lowercase “i” to give a more personalized feeling to the brand.

Highlighting the wide range of items and opportunities available on Craigslist, I redesigned the logo into a spiraling lock, signaling an infinite number of possibilities. The lock is also key to encouraging people to think of Craigslist as a safe and secure site.

Before Facebook Marketplace and Amazon, Craigslist was the one stop shop for all your needs. The brand relied entirely on word of mouth, and over the years the fear of scams overtook the public perception of Craigslist, causing it to become outdated and in dire need of a brand refresh. And that all starts with the logo.

Color Palette

The iconic Craigslist purple combined with deep blues, a bright yellow, and a deeper orange-yellow invokes feelings of peace, comfort, happiness and excitement.

Pattern Creation

Incorporating Craigslist’s new tagline “unlock your potential”, the patterns are made up of spirals similar to the logo all intertwined. The connected spirals speak to how Craigslist is a large web of opportunities and products.

Advertisements

Highlighting the uniqueness of opportunities and items available on Craigslist, this ad campaign focuses on catching the viewers’ eye with unique combinations of things you don’t typically see in everyday life. This makes the viewer stop and wonder about what unique things can be found on the site.

Craigslist Packaging products

The mailing boxes I’ve created instill a sense of excitement in the buyer when receiving their package. The branded tape paired with the box allows the buyer to know that the product has not been tampered with since it was shipped, creating a sense of security and trust in Craigslist.
